MAC Review: New View, Sonic Chic, & Electroflash Collection

New View Collection

This collection impressed me much more than I thought it would! Yeah, yeah, another Mineralized Skin Finish… But, the highlight portion on top is what makes these a winner! Instead of me getting the lightest one for my skin tone, I went to medium dark to use for contouring and as a beautiful shimmery blush. I must say that I love it!

The bottom 2/3 is a satiny powder that you can buff over your foundation to set it, and the top 1/3 is a shimmer highlighter to use on top of your cheek bones. The top part is pretty shimmery, but adds a nice glow to the cheeks.

Sonic Chic Collection

These are mineralized blushes that have a sheer coverage with some shimmer. You can build the color to the intensity that you want, but if you are looking for something without shimmer, I would pass on these.

The colors are very beautiful and look better than the regular line of blushes (in my opinion). They are worth looking at, but I can’t review completely until I use for awhile longer…

Electroflash Collection

The Mineralized Eyeshadows are back with a kick! These are not the same ones from last year’s collection- these are more pigmented and more vibrant. They come with 2 halves- one is a marbled, one is solid color. The texture with these eyeshadows are different from the regular line ones in that they are smoother, but a bit more powdery. They are great for packing color on the lid or outer part of the eye, but not for blending.

    Hi Marlena - i love those shadows! I cant wait for them to get here but it is always late when they arrive here. Can you believe that heatherette collection is the one that is arriving here this 17th of july? :) Plus i really want to have those new view collection. i want to get the dark & shimmer for contouring coz i have MSF already. :)

    Can i ask you something if you dont mind? Its about the Bare Minerals foundation. Do you think its worth it if i buy those? I dont really have problem with my skin. I just want to try those coz i kinda like using powders than liquid. But i also wanna make sure that they are good and worth of buying because they are not cheap. :) plus it has spf, its a must have here in asia as its so hot right now here. :) thanks marlena.. you are always looking great!

    You look gorgeous with that two to glow ! I love the dark inner third, how did you do that ?

    Yep- tutorial on its way. I need to re-tape as my original version turned out crappy… You could tell I was really tired, so… I’m re-taping it tomorrow. It should be ready by Tuesday.

    Richellene, I really love the BE foundations! But, some people are allergic to bismuth (one of the ingredients in it)- I’m not sure if you have sensitive skin or not, but these give great coverage for being mineralized powder.

    Hi Sheilla :)

    I’m not thinking Dainty would be a good highlighter- it’s a pale pink blush. You’ll want something even lighter than that for highlighter.

    I’m not sure if they fit into a blush palette- I don’t have one yet (it’s something I need to get soon though :) )

    Here’s a list of what I think would be good to start with:

    -Painterly Paintpot
    -Rubanesque Paintpot

    -Brule (Satin highlighter)
    -Shroom (Shimmer highlighter)
    -Espresso (deep brown color)
    -Wedge, Omega, or Kid (good crease color)

    Hope that helps :)

    Hi, I have a quick question about MAC Fix+, I dont use MAC foundation will the product stll work and give a flawless, dewy finsih, and will it be ok using the product with a different foundtion?

    Issy, rubanesque would be a good one if you have it. Or… if you can see if your counter has any “cash flow” p/p left- that’s a nice gold color.

    OR… you could use NYX jumbo pencil in gold on the lid- that will bring out the gold, but make sure you have a good base underneath

    I bought sea & sky last night and I absolutely love it! I used it over a shade stick (beige-ing) to help it adhere and I got maximum color payoff!
    But I do have a question about fix +, how exactly do I use it?

    Hey..so about electroflash the girl at the mac counter was saying u could actually use the eyeshadow wet..!? Does anyone know how to go about doing that or whether its gonna make it easier to pack on? Also Marlena i was wondering u think the electroflash eyeshadows could be used for the arabic look?

    Applying the Mineralized Shadows with Fix + or Medium Mixer helps to pack on more color and make the color more vibrant. It also helps minimize “fall out”, which happens alot with these. Definitely apply wet.

    i am NC 30 {studio finish concealer user}…n my eyes are slightly darker than my skin tone…what colours of eyeshadow n paintpots shud i start with..i have many shades of browns from different cosmetic companies…but they just blend wth my eye colour. any suggestions in MAC line…for highlighter, crease and lid colour…

I have been using Alexandria DeMarkoff eye disquise as a base for myself ,and clients for years.
